The Derwent is rising towards the 5m mark, which is when properties become at risk of flooding in the area.
The latest flood warning for Old Malton reads:
River levels are rising in response to heavy rainfall associated with Storm Darragh. No further significant rainfall is forecast but river levels are expected to continue to rise on Monday 9/12/2024 as water makes its way downstream. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please take action to protect yourself and your property and monitor local weather and river conditions. Avoid contact with, walking or driving through flood water. Consider activating any property flood protection products you may have. This message will be updated by 12:00pm on Monday, 09/12/2024, or as the situation changes.

There is also a flood warning for Pickering Beck but the water there is receding.
Over the weekend some properties have been flooded near Kirbymoorside from the River Dove.
North Yorkshire Council said on Sunday:
"To support people affected, we are working alongside Kirkbymoorside Town Council to set up a local assistance centre. This is at The Moorside Rooms, Church Street, Kirkbymoorside. This will give people an opportunity to get support face-to-face in their local area. Our staff continue to be in the area to speak to residents and ensure they have the help they need.
At Malton and Norton, a number of pumps have been deployed in case river levels continue to rise. Although disruption is not expected in these towns, pumps have been put in place as a precaution."
Speaking on behalf of North Yorkshire Council on Sunday, assistant director Callum McKeon, explained,
“Following the initial response from the Fire Service, as a council we’ve come together overnight and this morning to offer a range of support to people affected by the storm. In particular those in the Kirkbymoorside area who’ve been affected by the River Dove. We’ll have people on the ground throughout the day and tomorrow to offer direct support and to give a place to go for anyone affected.”
