East Riding of Yorkshire Council has launched a public survey to gather opinions and ideas for a proposed mural trail in Bridlington.
The initiative, led by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, aims to transform buildings from the Old Town to the town centre with artistic murals celebrating the area's rich heritage.
The council, in collaboration with a yet-to-be-selected local artist, is seeking to create a trail that reflects important features of Bridlington and its surrounding areas. Experienced artists will be commissioned to design and execute the artwork, drawing inspiration from community input.
A spokesperson for East Riding of Yorkshire Council emphasised the importance of community involvement in shaping the project.

Historical Places or Buildings: Suggestions currently listed in the survey include Bridlington Priory, The Spa, the cliffs, the harbour, the beach, and Flamborough Head.

Historical Significance: Participants are asked to consider what aspects of Bridlington's history and its surrounding area matter most to them and their families, with options such as fishing industries, harbour events, and local famous people.

Contemporary Representation: The survey also seeks input on the most important features that represent Bridlington and the local area today.
The Council says it aims for the mural trail to not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of the town but also to encourage visitors to explore the connection between the Old Town and the bustling town centre. Previous art initiatives in the broader Yorkshire Coast region, such as the "Puffins Galore!" trail, have demonstrated the potential for public art to boost tourism and raise awareness of local heritage and environmental themes.
