Around 850 premises are without power.
Northern Powergrid say a problem with an electricity cable is the cause of a power cut affecting around 850 homes and businesses in Scarborough.
The power went off around 5:25pm in the Peasholm and Columbus Ravine area of the town. Northern Powergrid say they hope to have the problem fixed by around 7:15pm.
Some street lights have also been affected by the outage.
