Arrests After Scarborough Incident

Three men have been arrested and one hospitalised after an incident in Scarborough.

Several roads in Scarborough have been closed this morning as Police deal with an incident in Scarborough town centre.

Valley Bridge Parade and Somerset Terrace were closed to traffic and pedestrians.

Westwood from the Tesco Junction to Valley Bridge Parade was also closed to vehicles and pedestrians. There was no access to the train station from Westwood.

Multiple ambulances have been seen in the area and there are armed police officers visible on the streets.

In an update at just after 10:30am North Yorkshire Police said:

"We received a report this morning (16 July) at 6.45am about an incident in a flat at Pavilion Terrace, Scarborough.

This is currently ongoing and officers are at the scene.

Road closures are currently in place at Valley Bridge Parade and Somerset Terrace, and we request that people please avoid this area."

At lunchtime Police confirmed that they had made a number of arrests saying:

"Three men, aged 46-years-old, 37-years-old and 23-years-old, have been arrested for violent disorder in connection with this incident.

The 46-year-old man has been taken to Scarborough District Hospital for observation.

The cordon remains in place whilst police search the scene and roads remain closed."
