Almost 40 vehicles have been seized as part of Operation Drive Insured which took place at the end of November.
Officers from Humberside Police's Roads Policing Unit issued 34 traffic offence reports and seized 39 vehicles as part of the weeklong campaign, which ran from Monday 20 November to Sunday 26 November.
Sergeant Diane Kemp from their Roads Policing Unit said:
“I am really pleased to see these results from the national campaign our officers took part in. A total of 39 uninsured vehicles have now been seized which will help to make our roads safer.
“The public are the ones who are forced to pay the price of uninsured drivers, with them costing the public an estimated £400 million pounds per year.
“The law is clear on uninsured drivers, and it is the driver’s responsibility to ensure they are driving with insurance, whether it is a company vehicle or their own. All motor vehicles which are being used on a public highway must meet the minimum insurance requirements.
“I hope the outcome of Op Drive Insured serves as a reminder to drivers that we continue to take offences like this seriously and we will seize vehicles where it is appropriate to do so.
“My advice to motorists is to check they are insured. You can check with your insurer, the vehicle owner, the gov.uk website or via the Motor Insurers Bureau website (www.mib.org.uk).”
