Plans for a solar farm on the outskirts of Scarborough have been outlined by energy firm Voltalia.
The scheme would see an 80 acre solar farm built at Eastgate Farm located immediately to the south of Stoney Haggs Road.
It's thought the project would providing enough renewable energy to power up to 6,100 homes.

The main element of the proposal is the installation of a ground mounted solar park with a maximum installed capacity of 30MW with an expected generation of 31GWh. The proposed solar farm will generate sufficient electricity annually to provide for the needs of up to 6,100 homes, and offset 2,900 tonnes of C02.
The application proposal would also include a package of landscape, ecological and biodiversity benefits. Land between and beneath the panels would be used for seasonal grazing.
The company say the project will
"assist Scarborough Borough Council to urgently reduce greenhouse gas emissions in line with local, national and international targets and its declared Climate Emergency to transition to a low carbon future. "
They say they are committed to using local suppliers during construction and operation where possible.
The company says it hopes to submit a final planning application this year and that if approved construction could start in 2022.
