Scarborough Borough Council has been looking at what impact it's selective licencing scheme has had over the last five years.
Over 5,000 housing issues have been dealt with under Scarborough Borough councils selective licencing scheme.
The five year scheme launched in 2017 and covered rented properties in parts of the town and aimed to improve the standard of accommodation
Scarborough Borough Council's Housing Manager Andrew Rowe says a review of the scheme showed how many interventions were made.
The project aimed to improve the standard of rented accommodation in parts of the town centre.
The new study sought views from local people- including tenants and landlords ahead of the council looking to extend the scheme
Housing manager Andrew Rowe said some key themes came out of the research.
A way forward is unlikely to be agreed before the new authority for North Yorkshire takes over next spring.
