A non emergency call to North Yorkshire Police took well over an hour to be answered last month.
One caller to the North Yorkshire Police 101 line had to wait an hour and twenty three minutes for their call to be answered last month.
The latest data shows just 62 percent of calls were answered in less than two minutes, the target is 90 percent.
Temporary Deputy Chief Constable for North Yorkshire Police - Catherine Clarke - says the call has highlighted a problem with their processes.
The average answer time over the 12 months to February 2024, for Emergency 999 calls was reported at 8 seconds. This compares to an average of 2 minutes and 17 seconds over the same period for non emergency 101 calls.
The force says the average number of monthly calls it receives to it's 999 line has doubled in the last ten years.
North Yorkshire Police says it is continuing to make improvements to it's response times in rural areas.
81 percent of urgent incidents were responded to within the 20 minute target last month.
Deputy Chief Constable for North Yorkshire Police - Catherine Clarke, says a number of changes have been introduced to help speed up response times.
