Geo Technical Solutions are being looked at to stabilise Jackson lane in Scarborough amid concern about it's impact on the Oliver's Mount road race circuit.
Historically the road provided the main public access to the Oliver's Mount circuit on race days, but Jacksons Lane has been closed for nearly four years due to land movement.
Scarborough County Councillor - Rich Maw - has raised the issue at a full council meeting.
Councillor Maw says that road racing at Oliver's Mount could be under threat if steps cant be taken to secure Jacksons Lane, claiming it's impacting on the four million pounds of revenue the race circuit brings to the town each year.
In a post of social media Councillor Maw said:
"On race days, Oliver's Mount uses Jackson's Lane as the sole route for public vehicular entry and other routes are closed off.
Events may not be viable should Jackson's Lane be inaccessible over a race weekend.I am working with the race director, SBC and County to try ensure that Oliver's Mount racing remains financially viable but there are growing concerns that NYCC may come to the view that this road may not be used in a one-way manner any time soon.
This would be a disaster for Olivers Mount racing and result in a permanent loss of circa £4m per annum to the local economy."
Executive Member for Transport - Councillor Keane Duncan - says they are looking at the issues.
The Oliver's Mount team announced in November that they would be staging a full program of events in 2023, for the first time since 2017, including:

- 1/2 July – Cock O’ The North
- 22/23 July – Barry Sheene Classic
- tbd August – Bike Hill Climb
- 26/27/28 August – GB SuperMoto Championship Round (Subject to Approval)
- 23/24 September – RST Steve Henshaw Gold Cup
