The vast majority of school-age children are now back in school in North Yorkshire, accessing learning and taking another step towards returning to normal life.
Overall, 94 per cent of pupils were attending school last week in North Yorkshire, with 98 per cent of primary-aged children and 90 per cent of secondary-aged pupils back in the classroom.
The County Council's Assistant Director for Education, Amanda Newbold says the testing has gone well with some moving to home testing this week.
The council say that the reopening of Schools on the Yorkshire Coast has not lead to an increase in the rate of COVID cases.
While the school testing programme has identified a handful of cases and some schools have closed or asked year groups to self isolate Assistant Director for Education, Amanda Newbold says that was expected.
Amanda says the feeling is that It has been an overwhelmingly positive return to school these past couple of weeks with Headteachers and staff in primary and secondary schools reporting that children are very happy to be back and staff are very pleased to have them back in their classrooms.
Schools are now spending their time trying to understand where pupils are in their learning and making plans to make sure the recovery curriculum is effective.
