An aqua park near Scarborough has applied for permission to sell alcohol and live play music on site when the lockdown is over.
The Wykeham Estate Settlement has submitted the premises licence application for the North Yorkshire Water Park, based at Wykeham Lake.
James Whitehead has lodged the licence request with Scarborough Council, which asks for permission for the business to have the option to sell alcohol and play live music until 11pm seven days a week. The park would be open until midnight.
Speaking about the application, Gareth Davies, general manager at North Yorkshire Water Park, said:
“The new café at the Water Park is set to open in June.
“With an outdoor paved terrace overlooking the lake, the new 70 seater café will be the perfect spot to enjoy breakfast, coffee or lunch.
“The improved catering, along with a spacious private room, will make the café an ideal venue for parties and corporate team building events.
“The café will be offering guests bottled beers and a selection of wine. We are also looking to host wine tasting nights and family functions.”
Last year, the water park was granted permission to operate all year round by the borough council.
The park opened in 2017, offering visitors two aquatic challenge tracks alongside pedalos and open water swimming and, more recently, an “aqua park zone” consisting of inflatable equipment that forms an aquatic obstacle course.
A second expansion added two 240m long wakeboarding lines, a new toilet block and a new reception building alongside the café on the site.
