There have been 29 recorded crimes involving firearms in North Yorkshire so far this year.
The figures which cover January to September are up slightly on the same period for the year before.
Detective Superintendent Fran Naughton is from the county's serious organised crime unit. Fran says the county is a safe place in relation to firearms.
The North Yorkshire force say the number of firearm thefts has fallen in the last year despite the county having a significant number of legally licenced weapons.
Detective Superintendent Naughton says that number of licenced firearms does present some challenges.
