Jazz Court retirement community in Eastfield is offering a new ‘warm space’ service with free hot food and drink for vulnerable people in the local area.
The ‘warm space’ service, which launched on Friday 3 March, means that anyone in need can visit Jazz Court’s Taste restaurant between 12.30pm and 1.30pm every Friday, and receive a free bowl of soup, a sandwich and a hot cup of tea or coffee, all freshly prepared by the on-site catering team. Visitors can also use the space to keep warm and safe, and enjoy a friendly conversation with the staff and residents.
To ensure the new service can be accessed by vulnerable people, the team at Jazz Court, a community with apartments and communal facilities for the over-55s and people with long-term care needs, have joined forces with local community group Westway Open Arms.
The community group, which runs a food bank service in the buildings next door to the Holy Nativity church and offers free benefits advice and support, will be providing vouchers which can be collected by anyone in need and then redeemed at Jazz Court on Fridays.
Jazz Court is able to offer a ‘warm space’ with free hot food and drink, thanks to fundraising efforts by the caring and thoughtful staff and residents at the retirement service, who also guarantee a warm welcome for anyone who would like to use the service.
