Scarborough could have an adaptive surf centre by next summer.
The project would see specialist equipment and facilities provided to allow disabled youngsters take to the waves.
The scheme is being led by The Wave project who already run Surf Therapy sessions in the town.
Matt Jones is the projects co-ordinator, he says they have just received some funding for the scheme.
The Wave project are hoping to renovate buildings at aquarium top in to a specialist centre to enable disabled people to get out on the waves.
Matt Jones says there is some specialised kit needed to run the accessible surf sessions.
