New Local Photo Competition and 5k Run as Scalby Fair Expands

Organisers of this Year's Scalby Fair say it looks like being the busiest yet.

Preparations of the return of Scalby Fair next month are going well according to organisers who say that for the first time ever they now have a waiting list for stalls at the event.

The event will also see the launch of a new local photography competition.

Michael Whiteley is part of the organising committee, he says they are looking for local people to take part.

The competition trophy, named after two past members of the Scalby Fair, will be known as the Cathcart-Anderson Trophy.

A number of prizes are being awarded as part of the competition and the winning photo's will also be on display at this year;'s fair.

Photographs welcomed of landscapes and scenes in and around Scalby and Scarborough. The closing date for the competition is June 1st. Photograph's should be sent as an attachment via email to photocomp@scalbyfair.org.uk in the format of a JPEG between 5-15Mb in size.

The fair itself has been extended this year with the addition of a 5k run and 1.6km Fun Run. Both runs will take place on June 12th.Entry forms are availably on the Scalby Fair website https://scalbyfair.org.uk/2022/03/24/scalby-fair-run-2022/

Michael Whiteley says that this year's new features will make the fair the biggest ever in terms of it's length and he says they have seen a big increase in the number of people showing interest in the event.
