New Electronic Speed Sign for Whitby

An electronic watch your speed sign is to be installed in one of Whitby's speeding hotspots.

The sign will be placed on Ruswarp Lane after calls from local residents.

The Town Council will take on the costs of running the sign after County Councillor Phil Trumper asked Anglo American to cover the upfront costs of the kit.

Concerns have been raised by residents about road safety on the B1416, which is variously Ruswarp Lane, Ruswarp Bank and High Street between the junction with the A171 and the crossing of the River Esk.

Anglo American have agreed to fund the purchase of the electronic speed sign, County Councillor Phil Trumper says once it's installed the town council will then take on the management of the sign
