A teenager was rescued from the foot of Mallayan Spout Waterfall yesterday.
Emergency services were called to Mallyan Spout waterfall near Goathland yesterday to reports that a teenage male had suffered a suspected dislocated knee after getting his foot trapped in West Beck at the foot of the waterfall.
Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue team were called along with North Yorkshire Police, North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service and Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust.
Initial report suggested that while the water was not deep rescue by those on scene had failed due to the rocks being too slippery and that the youth was still trapped.
Upon arrival at the scene the Mountain Rescue Team determined that he had managed to extract himself and his knee had appeared to have gone back into alignment. The group had made their way half way back up the track to the village so it turned out to be a simple escort up the rest of the track to a waiting ambulance for further assessment of the injury. Fifteen team members deployed for an hour and a half.
