Councillors are asking for information on the cause of the die off and the compensation available.
More information is needed about the cause of the shellfish die off on the Yorkshire Coast and the compensation available to local fishermen.
That's according to county councillor Janet Jefferson, who says the government line that no further testing can take place unless there is another die off event, is not providing the fishing fleet with the reassurance it needs.
The effects of the mass shellfish die off which started in Autumn 2021 is being felt along the north east coasts.
Filey County Councillor Sam Cross says it is affecting Filey's fishing industry.
He says catches remain down, and says more information about compensation is needed.
Speaking at a county council meeting last week Councillors representing coastal communities told the meeting although the government had promised compensation for fishermen it was unclear where it could be accessed.
