Sunday sees the return of one of the Yorkshire Coast's most popular attractions.
Moorland Railway and Gardens open their gates for the season from 2-5pm, with train rides, tombola stalls and cream teas set to wow the crowds.
All the charities they support have a particular meaning to hosts, Alan and Lisa Williams. None more so than this year’s first event for Yorkshire Coast Dog Rescue.
Last year they suddenly lost their beautiful fox red Lab, Pop, to cancer. They found Peanut via the Facebook page that a friend kindly pointed them to and the couple remarked:
"It was love at first sight, we were delighted to offer him a forever home".
Just four months later they lost their dear black labrador, Paws, to old age. There was no doubt that Yorkshire Coast Dog Rescue was going to be on the list of charities supported this year.
Lisa told us a bit more about the gardens, which can surprise a few people with their mile-long railway line:
The gardens open on the first Sunday of each month throughout the summer with a number of other charities, including Martin House Children's Hospice set to benefit.
They're at Moorland House in Staintondale, YO13 0EW, just turn off the A171 at the Falcon pub and follow the ribbons!
