A new mobile pick-up service for COVID testing kits is in Whitby on Sunday.
The NHS vehicle is at the town's park and ride until 3pm to allow people who currently qualify for test kits to pick up a supply.
Public health consultant, Dr Victoria Turner says it's part of a pilot project which came about after health leaders in the county struggled to find ways of distibuting test kits in more rural areas.
"We asked the Department for Health and Social Care if we could have some mobile provision for people to collect and I'm pleased to say they agreed and in a couple of days we've managed to turn around a new mobile distribution unit that will act purely as a collection point for rapid testing.", she said.
"We think we might be the first one in the country and it's currently a pilot but it's a really great resource for us to have locally given our rural georgraphy so we hope it will continue to be well-used."
Those who currently qualify for test kits are the households and bubbles of pupils, students and staff at schools, nurseries and colleges.
