Meanwhile, Bridlington remain fourth in Yorkshire One after a 39-21 victory over Bradford Salem.
Whitby were narrowly edged out 33-24 at relegation rivals Barnard Castle who leapfrog them to leave the White Leys Road club third from bottom in Durham & Northumberland Division Two.
