Bridlington Town parted company with First Team Coach Mike Thompson and Assistant Andy Norfolk yesterday.
In an update to fans today Bridlington Town FC confirmed that
"We have parted company with First Team Coach Mike Thompson and Assistant Andy Norfolk.
The position had become untenable due to non-footballing reasons, and the club felt that making a change was in the best interests of all."
In a post on social media, former manager Mike Thompson said:
"So sorry to write this guys but I had a phone call from our CEO this evening relieving Andy and I of our duties at the football club…… we have been sacked.
I’m gutted guys, and I’m sorry. Feel we took this thing from certain relegation to play off contenders in 11 months and unfortunately the road ends tonight.
Sorry to everyone that backed us that we won’t be here any longer, I’m gutted guys.
Love you all
I’m sorry "
The club have today confirmed that Michael Coulson will take temporary charge of First Team affairs.
The club said:
"Michael brings extensive experience from a career of more than 380 senior appearances across Scarborough, Barnsley, Grimsby Town, York City, St Johnstone, Farsley Celtic and Bridlington Town.
He has top level playing experience and is currently completing his UEFA coaching badges. Michael needs no introduction to the supporters at Queensgate and can’t wait to get started.
His leadership and professionalism make him well-placed to guide the squad."
