Michael Coulson Speaks About Scarborough Athletic Exit

Former Scarborough Athletic club captain - Michael Coulson - has been speaking about his departure from the club.

It was announced on Sunday evening that Coulson's contract with Boro had been ended by mutual consent to allow him to "find more game time elsewhere".

Speaking on This is the Coast's Seadogs Podcast, Michael says it's been a hard decision to take.

Michael says injury problems at the start of the season meant he wasn't getting the game time he wanted at this stage in his career.

Coulson says he felt that now was probably the right time to move on to get the game time he craves and says he is ready to fight for a first team place.

Coulson started his career with his home town club Scarborough, making his first-team debut in a Conference National match in 2004. He left in 2006 for Championship side Barnsley before heading on to clubs like Grimsby, York City and Scottish Premier League side St Johnstone.

Coulson returned to his home town side in 2017 putting pen to paper for Scarborough Athletic. He says the changes he's seen in the club over those six years have been impressive.

The announcement of Coulson's departure was made at 5pm on Sunday. Michael says he's been touched by the messages of support on social media.

The big question now for Coulson is what happens next in his football career. Michael says he's going to take some time to consider the options.

Michael says he leaves Scarborough Athletic with nothing but admiration for the people he leaves behind.
