Much of the North is under an amber weather warning, though the Yorkshire Coast has mostly seen rain.
There are big differences within just a few miles with inland roads like the A64, A169 and the route at Blakey Ridge covered in heavy snow.

The Met Office issued the following statement and map:
'Snow will become persistent and locally heavy as it pushes south to north across the warning area. As well as snow, a period of freezing rain is also likely bringing some hazardous travel conditions, before milder air follows across all areas by Sunday morning.
Whilst there is some uncertainty in details, 3-7 cm of snow is likely for much of the warning area, with locally 15-30 cm for the higher ground of Wales and the southern Pennines. Freezing rain could lead to ice accretion in places, especially parts of Wales, before the milder air leads to a rapid thaw of snow and ice in the south of the warning area through Sunday.'
The amber warning is in place from 9pm on Saturday until 12 noon on Sunday, most of the Yorkshire Coast is under a less severe yellow warning with the very coastal fringes likely to miss the worst of the weather, though it will still be cold.
Runways have been closed at Leeds Bradford, Liverpool and Manchester airports.
The Met Office advises residents to prepare for the wintry conditions by planning routes, checking for delays and road closures, and amending travel plans if necessary. Drivers should allow extra time to prepare their vehicles and pack essentials such as warm clothing, food, water, a blanket, a torch, ice scraper/de-icer, a warning triangle, a high visibility vest, and an in-car phone charger.
Pedestrians are advised to use pavements along main roads, which are more likely to be treated for ice. Cyclists should also stick to main roads. Residents are encouraged to gather torches, batteries, a mobile phone power pack, and other essential items in case of power cuts or service disruptions.
The Met Office recommends staying updated with the latest weather forecasts as warnings can change quickly.
