Mayor David Skaith says there is progress on train improvements but financial pressures on road upgrades.
The Introduction of Half Hourly trains between Scarborough and York remains a priority according to North Yorkshire's Mayor.
As he starts his second year in the role, Mayor David Skaith says improving connectivity to the Yorkshire Coast is high on his agenda.
"Certainly on the half hourly trains, we're making good strides on that.
We're still really emphasizing that half hourly train connectivity is absolutely imperative. We see that whole corridor basically from York out to Scarborough and all the way along that corridor is a really key area for us, for around housing, for around skills, around opportunities.
But again, that half hour service over to Scarborough is going be key for that.
Parts of our coast really aren't that far away, but at times it feels a long way away. And it's down to that transport connectivity"
The Mayor says he also is talking to the government about upgrades to the A64 but admits that funding for any improvement projects might not be available.
David Skaith says the issues with the A64 between Scarborough and York have been a problem for many years.
"The A64 that's been talked about since the sixties I think quite frankly.
And we had a long time with the previous government who didn't make head road on that, didn't prioritize enough, didn't press forward on it.
We are speaking with government on it. We are saying if the money's there, then we would love to do it, but we understand the financial situation right now might mean that the money isn't there currently, but we're certainly having those conversations with government, understanding that is a priority,"
