Junction improvement works are due to start at the Spital Bridge junction in Whitby on Monday.
Work is expected to last for 12 weeks at the junction on the east side of the New Bridge.
There will be some disruption to traffic, but North Yorkshire Highways say they will try to keep this to a minimum.
They say to allow extra time for journeys and apologise for any inconvenience caused by this work.
