North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue have confirmed the Langdale fire near RAF Fylingdales has been contained.
North Yorkshire's Chief Fire Officer Jonathan Dyson paid tribute to colleagues and local people- including farmers- who have beat fighting the blaze for over two weeks now.
Rain showers came yesterday to the area.
Mr Dyson says no more donations are required but thanked people for their support:
"The public have been fantastic in their support for the service and indeed the farmers and the contractors across the board we have received donations. We have sufficient supplies, and we're of course maintaining those for our crews. So whilst we don't need anymore, I will put out a thanks once again to the public for their support and indeed for the, those donations."
Firefighters are expected to be on site for the next seven days.
Scarborough and Whitby MP Alison Hume said the response from local people has been incredible:
" Yeah, it's been an incredible community response and I've been really moved to see what people have been doing. And I have to say that it's been quite moving. And the other thing is that there's a been a GoFundMe page set up, that was wanted, a hundred pounds is now about seven or 8,000 for fuel for the farmers.
"So everybody's coming together speaking to the firefighters at Scarborough today. They've been so touched by the donations, but they're saying. If people do want to donate money going forward to look at the firefighter's charity, because that would be a really good way of channelling that kind of affection and gratitude."
