Engineers will try and figure out why it keeps getting stuck.
North Yorkshire County Council say Whitby Swing bridge will be closed to traffic on Monday 18 October from 6pm to midnight to allow engineers to investigate the cause of recent issues.
There have been numerous incidents recently of the bridge becoming struck.
The council say that during the works the bridge will be swung numerous times.
They say Pedestrian access over the bridge will be possible in between swings.
