There were sad scenes on the beach in Whitby on Friday afternoon.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue say, at around 12.30pm, a crew from Whitby responded to a request to assist a horse suffering from a head injury.
They were asked to move the animal from the beach into a horse box.
Unfortunately, the severity of the horse's injury meant it had to be put to sleep, on the scene, by a vet.
