The car parking situation in Scarborough could be improved when the new unitary council takes over next April.
At the moment on-street parking is controlled by the County Council while car parks are managed by the Borough Council.
From April both will be the responsibility of the new North Yorkshire wide authority.
Scarborough Councillor Janet Jefferson raised the issue at a recent county council meeting - Janet wants a promised a review of parking to take place soon.
Councillor Jefferson says that In Scarborough there are currently over 30k on-street scratch cards issued for the towns 630 on-street spaces.
Executive member for Highways, Councillor Keane Duncan- says the situation will be looked at as part of the process of merging the parking services into the new North Yorkshire Council.
