Alison Hume says she will be missing from Westminster for a while as she undergoes an operation.
In a post on social media the MP revealed the personal news saying:
"Over the coming weeks, you'll be seeing less of me in Westminster asking questions and making speeches, not because I don't love getting to my feet to represent Scarborough Whitby in the villages, but because I will literally be off my feet.
I'll be having a hip replacement this week, which might limit my ability to get around for a while, but it won't stop me working hard for you, as I always do.
I'll be offering advice surgeries online instead of in person, and my team will be working hard as usual to support constituents.
As always, please don't hesitate to get in touch if I can help you."
Alison Hume has a high attendance record at Westminster, voting in 174 out of 206 divisions (approx. 84.5% as of early 2026). She has participated in votes regarding the National Insurance Contributions (Employer Pensions Contributions) Bill, the Diego Garcia Military Base and British Indian Ocean Territory Bill, and various Finance Bills (January 2026).
She has contributed to debates on topics including the sale of fireworks, the Violence against Women and Girls Strategy, seasonal work, and the Local Media.
