North Yorkshire Police have issued a Traffic alert for the Scarborough area as they deal with a large volume of weather related incidents in the Scarborough area.
Heavy downpours have been affecting parts of the Yorkshire Coast throughout the day and seem to be particularly bad in the Scarborough Area.
North Yorkshire Police say:
"Please avoid driving through flood water as there are a number of broken down vehicles as a result of taking on water driving through floods, this is adding to the strain on the emergency services.
We are in contact with North Yorkshire Highways who are assisting us, we ask that you abide by road closures and take care on the roads."

Police close Scalby Road close to the Hospital for a while as a result of flash flooding on the road.

East Yorkshire Buses reported that their drivers were dealing with difficult conditions in the Scarborough area.

But the weather didn't seem to put off these tourists from Nottinghamshire
The rain is expected to continue in to the evening but dryer conditions are expected for Friday.
