The wait for electric vehicle charging points in Filey looks set to continue.
The slow rise in publicly available EV chargers compared with EV uptake in North Yorkshire has been linked to the county's rural nature, high grid connection costs and capacity issues making the sites commercially unattractive.
A £450,000 project has been underway since March to install 48 charging points in council car parks in the former Scarborough Borough with Filey still waiting for their three charging points.
North Yorkshire Councillor for Filey is Sam Cross, he says there have been a number of issues including with power supplies.
There are almost 4,000 electric vehicles registered in North Yorkshire and 225 publicly available charge points but council officers forecast 3,161 charge points will be needed by 2030.
A bid for funding from the £400m national electric vehicle pilot scheme saw £3.2m secured for the county, which will pay for 150 charge points, of which 70 will be linked to renewable energy systems.
Sam Cross says that there are a number of other areas which are also suffering from the lack of EV charging points.
