The Environment Agency has warned of flood risks from the River Esk, between Ruswarp and Sleights and further south, at the Upper River Derwent.
The authority says immediate action is required as a flood warning for the River Esk, from Briggswath to Ruswarp, remains in force.
The level of the River Esk at Briggswath has peaked, however further rain is forecast until Thursday, so river levels are expected to rise again.
Incident response staff are closely monitoring the forecast. The public are warned to avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses, and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.
Warnings also remain in place for the Malton and Low Marishes area as the Upper River Derwent struggles to cope with heavy rainfall, which is expected to continue for the next 24 hours.
