Flood Warnings issued for parts of Whitby and Bridlington have been stood down but Flood Alerts remain in place for stretches of the coast.
The Environment Agency say that tides are expected to be higher than usual due to the forecast weather conditions over the next few days.
The agency had issued flood warning for the harbour areas in Whitby and Bridlington but has now removed those warnings.
A lower level Flood Alert has been issued for the coast from Staithes to Whitby including the tidal River Esk.
The Environment Agency say:
"Flooding is possible at the North Sea coast from Staithes to Whitby including Sandsend and tidal River Esk between 4:15PM and 5:45PM on 04/01/2022. Areas most at risk include low spots around Staithes Harbour and Whitby Harbour New Quay Road."
A Flood alert is also in place for the North Sea Coast at Bridlington. The Agency say:
"This Flood Alert has been issued because some minor flooding to coastal roads and footpaths is likely today, 04/01/2022 between 5:00PM and 6:15PM. Areas most at risk include the North Sea coast from Bridlington to Barmston, in particular around Bridlington Harbour, where Flood Warnings are in force."
