Five Star Seadogs! Scarborough Secure Important Win In Style

Boro beat Needham Market 5-0 under the lights at home to ease fears of being dragged into a relegation battle.

Scarborough dominated possession but it was the visitors who almost took the lead 15 minutes into the match.

Boro Keeper Ryan Whitley saved from a one-on-one opportunity. A Watkiss pass found Hammond in on goal, but his attempted chip was dealt with by Scarborough's number 1.

Shortly afterwards, the Seadogs took the lead. Luca Colville found Harry Green, who, after twisting and turning through the Needham defence, rifled the ball past keeper Garnham.

Within five minutes, Boro had doubled their lead, Sheffield Wednesday loanee Sam Reed scoring his first goal for Boro from a beautifully placed cross from Luca Colville.

Scarborough sealed a fantastic, pacey first half display with a third goal and second for Green. After squeezing through the defenders he found himself in front of the keeper, and what appeared to be a mis-kick trickled into the back of the net.

Boro continued to dominate in the 2nd half, Sam Reed scored his second of the night, though he might not remember too much about it.

He closed down the Needham goalkeeper, who, in his attempt to kick the ball clear, kicked it straight into the stomach of Reed, the ball rebounding into the empty goal.

It was a minute or so before Reed could get up. He would eventually go on to be named Man of the Match.

Substitute Stephen Walker concluded the scoring for Scarborough, netting his first goal for his new side, converting a Weledji cross from close range.

Had the game been won by the visitors, Boro would only be seven points above the drop zone. But following the win, Scarborough are a comfortable thirteen points clear.

Attendance: 1045, including 14 travelling fans from Suffolk.

Boro next play Hereford this Saturday at home. Kick off 3:00pm.
