The strong winds are causing issues along the Yorkshire Coast.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue say they are attending multiple incidents in Scarborough where tiles are blowing from roofs.
They say :
"If possible please remain indoors until the wind reduces as falling debris is extremely dangerous at this time."
Fire officers add:
"Multiple properties in Sandringham Street in Scarborough have tiles falling from their roofs. Please avoid this area it's very dangerous."
Scarborough Borough council Say :
"Storm Arwen is making her presence felt across the borough. We have teams out dealing with multiple fallen trees and we're working with the emergency services in several places because of dangerous structures. Please keep away from the seafront where conditions are dangerous."
A number of trees have been brought down by the winds last night, including one which has fallen on a car in Ryndle Crescent
Seafront roads in Scarborough have been closed as waves continue to overtop the sea walls.
The Hollywood Plaza Cinema in Scarborough say they won't be able to open this weekend due to storm damage.
Local football matches for Scarborough Athletic and Whitby town have been postponed. At Whitby damage to the floodlights meant the game had to be called off.
Whitby Cricket Club have also reported suffering damage to their ground in last night's storm.

A Yellow Wind Warning remains in place until 6pm for the Yorkshire Coast, the Met Office warn that winds could gust to 65mph and could cause:
- Injuries and danger to life from flying debris are possible
- Some damage to trees, temporary structures and buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs, could happen
- Road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected, with longer journey times and cancellations possible
- Some roads and bridges may close
- Power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage
- Injuries and danger to life could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties
