Fire crews from Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay were called out last night to tackle a blaze in Ruswarp.
The crews from Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay responded to reports of a fire in a 2 storey semi detached residential property.
The fire originated in the left hand side of the upper floor of the the property, and the right hand side was unaffected by the fire.
The left hand side of the house suffered 100% fire damage and the right hand side suffered 10% smoke damage.
The fire service say the cause, to be confirmed by the fire investigation officer, appears to be accidental.
Fire crews used a light portable pump, major pump, 45m hose, hose reel jet, triple extension ladder, 9m ladder, thermal imaging camera, and 6 breathing apparatus.
