North Yorkshire Police say the road is closed near the Flask Inn
North Yorkshire Police are reporting the A171 is closed in both directions near the Flask Inn due to smoke on the road from a fire.
It's not clear if this fire is related to the moorland fire which has been ongoing since late on Monday.
Officers say:
"We've got crews en-route to reports of a field fire on the A171 near the Flask Inn.
There's reports of a lot of smoke affecting the road so we're asking people to take care and avoid the area if possible."
In a further update officers report:
"The A171 between the Falcon Inn and the junction with the B1416 (leading to Ruswarp) is closed due to smoke blowing across the carriageway.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area and follow diversions at this time.
Thank you for your patience and understanding."
North Yorkshire Fire Service add:

Police say the fire is in the area of the Flask Inn with the road closed from the Falcon Inn to the B1416.
