Filey's Gonna Need a Bigger Boat (House)

Filey RNLI look like they are going to need a bigger boat-house

Last week we reported how Filey is set to get a new lifeboat in the next few months as the Mersey all weather vessel is replaced with a fast response Atlantic 85 boat.

But there is something of a problem with the new arrangement.

Here's John Ward from Filey Lifeboat Station.

John says extending the boat house to accommodate the new vessel is not an easy proposition
 
 
Initial tests with the vessel seemed to show that it didn't matter whether the boat and trailer combination was stored boat first or tractor first, it just didn't fit.
 
 
A relief Atlantic 85 along with associated launching and recovery equipment is due to arrive on station in November with crew training starting at some point afterwards. The lifeboat team will spend time looking at ways of overcoming the "configuration difficulties".
