North Yorkshire Council's Finance Chief thinks it's unlikely Filey's little bus service can return.
The prospect of replacing Filey's Town Centre Bus service is "tenuous".
That's the view of North Yorkshire Council's finance chief.
Councillor Gareth Dadd, who is the council's Deputy Leader and Executive Member for Finance and Resources, says a study that concluded that reinstating the town's "little bus" service would cost in the region of £50,000 a year, shows that the idea is not financially viable.
Meanwhile Hunmanby Councillor, Michelle Donohue-Moncrieff says that any new transport plan for North Yorkshire needs to consider public transport for rural villages and not just larger towns.
While sympathetic to the issues being faced by some Filey residents following the closure of the town's little bus service last year, Councillor Donohue-Moncrieff says smaller villages have even less access to public transport.
Age UK Coast and Moors and Filey Town Council had been looking at bringing the bus back into service after it's previous operator retired last year.
In a report presented to Filey Town Council, Age UK concluded it would need around £50,000 a year of funding for the service to be viable. Neither Age UK or the Town Council felt these numbers were viable.
