The new town mayor of Filey is set to be appointed on Wednesday as the council seeks to reorganise after a month of ‘unrest’.
Filey Town Council will hold its first full meeting with newly appointed councillors following the recent resignation of eight members, which left the authority barely quorate and in an “unprecedented” situation.
Members of the public have been invited to the meeting at the Council Offices starting at 7pm on Wednesday, November 12.
One of the first agenda items is to appoint a town mayor after the previous mayor resigned, leaving deputy mayor Coun Wendy Fenlon as the authority’s senior elected member.
According to council documents, Paula Shillaw has been appointed as interim town clerk and the responsible finance officer following the town clerk’s resignation.
At Wednesday’s meeting, residents are invited to “question, seek clarification, or make representation to members of the council on any agenda item”.
Decisions are due to be made on approving the minutes of October’s council meetings, a report from the interim town clerk, and a review of the committees’ memberships.
Councillors will also receive an update on North Yorkshire Council’s decision on the Scarborough Model Agreement and the financial implications for FTC, as well as receive a report from North Yorkshire Police.
