The effects of a lack of council owned social housing in Filey are being highlighted by the town's County Councillor.
Filey residents are having to move away from the town to find somewhere to live.
That's according to the town's county councillor who says something needs to be done to stop the population drain.
Councillor Sam Cross would like to see more social housing in the resort.
Sam Cross says people are having to move away from the town because of the lack of affordable housing.
He says that's going to have a long term effect.
There is some social housing in Filey operated by housing associations and housing charities, but the new North Yorkshire council which comes in to effect on April 1st won't own any social housing in the town itself.
