As Filey's annual fireworks display takes place the Lions say costs have doubled
Filey Lions Bonfire and Fireworks Display takes place every year. It is a thank you to the Filey Community and its visitors for all their support.
Filey Bonfire and Fireworks Event is being staged tonight – Saturday 4th November, but organisers Filey Lions say the cost of staging the annual display has nearly doubled since 2019, and they have launched a fundraising campaign to help stage next years event.
To help plan for next year, a Just Giving Campaign has been set up, and you can spot the QR code for this on posters at the event.
Claire Browning, the Lions Marketing and Social Media Officer says this evenings event will offer something for everyone.
The free to enter event will take place at West Avenue Car Park in Filey. The Event opens at 5pm and the Bonfire will be lit at 6pm with the Fireworks at 7pm.
There will be food, refreshments, toffee apples, retro sweets and doughnuts. Toilets will also available.
The Lions say:
"This is a free event, our thank you to the community of Filey and surrounding villages for their support throughout 2023, but we do need your help to be able to hold this next year.
Cost this year have soared, nearly doubled since 2019 and 2024 is already on our minds.
Costs are soaring for fireworks, insurance, road closures, first aid support and the PA system. This event has so far this year, cost us £7,500 and is heading to £9,000 with a projected cost of over £10,000 for next year.

Also on the night the posters/QR code will be spotted around our stalls. So.. Please donate what you can and all donations will go towards our 2024 event."
