Saint Catherine’s Hospice in Scarborough is hosting two festive events this weekend to launch their 40th anniversary “Ruby” year and raise funds for the hospice.
On Friday, November 29th, the Christmas Light Switch-On event will take place from 5pm to 7pm.
Attendees can enjoy festive entertainment by singer Archie McNally and a countdown led by Scarborough Rugby Firsts.
The highlight of the evening will be the grand switch-on by Anne Hegerty, also known as The Governess from the popular ITV quiz show, The Chase.
Anna Jackson from the fundraising team says seasonal treats will be available at Flavours Bistro.
Then on Saturday, November 30th, the hospice will host its annual Christmas Fair from 10 am to 3 pm.
This year’s fair will have a ruby theme in recognition of the hospice’s 40th anniversary. Visitors are encouraged to wear something “ruby” to celebrate.
The fair promises over 40 stalls selling unique gifts, crafts, and delicious home baking. There will also be exciting games, animal encounters, and Santa’s grotto. Flavours Bistro will be serving up seasonal street food, including loaded roast potatoes with all the trimmings.
Anna says the Christmas Fair is a key date in St Catherine's year.
Both events will take place at Saint Catherine’s Hospice on Throxenby Lane in Scarborough.
