A senior North Yorkshire councillor has paid tribute to a major Scarborough festival.
Councillor Simon Myers is North Yorkshire Council's Executive Member for Culture, Arts and Housing:
"Every pound invested in the Scarborough Fair has a return of £37 in terms of social value. So if we could get that return on every pound we spent, we'd be doing very well indeed. So hats off to the team there and across the culture, tourism and library services."
The fair combines Scarborough Streets, Scarborough Art, Scarborough Lights, Scarborough Fringe and Scarborough Extreme.
The fair's Autumn/Winter season is underway with drone displays of Scarborough Castle set to conclude today.
Scarborough Art and Scarborough Lights run until 21 December and Scarborough Fringe returns from 4-7 December.
Councillor Myers added:
"The number of visitors to our cultural attractions and programs and exhibitions is back up at over 80,000.
"One of the things that gives me great pleasure is the satisfaction ratings for those services, which are consistently above our own targets, and in some cases well in excess of 90%, which is a real testament to our team and the fact that we're doing something right."
