Eastfield Driver Back at Work Three Years after Coma Paralysis

An Eastfield man who was left temporarily paralysed three years ago has relaunched his private hire business.

Andy Thorpe, who runs Eastfield Cars, spent three months learning to walk again after being in a coma for six weeks.

He says it was a very strange experience.

Andy spent six weeks in a coma in early 2021 after an asthma attack and says it's been a long road back since the coma left him temporarily paralysed.

He says he's now relishing being back at work.

Andy says:

"I'm way more laid back than I used to be, and I just, I think I've been given a second chance, I think, just grasp it with both hands and be brave, give this a go, see how it goes, and if it works, great, if it doesn't, I've given it a go, but yeah, it's just a case of trying not to let life slip me by so much. "
