As demand for foodbanks sky rockets, the volunteer organisations in the East Riding ask people who might need support this Christmas to come forwards now.
The demand for foodbank services in the East Riding of Yorkshire has risen substantially this year as families who perhaps would never have thought they would struggle for food have been hit by the financial impact of the COVID crisis.
In the east riding a number of foodbanks have come together under the umbrella of the East Riding Food Poverty Alliance to support each other and coordinate their activities.
Their Foodbank Development Officer, Natalie Taylor-Robinson says the increased number of people needing the help of foodbanks has been substantial
Natalie says one of their key messages is that people should not be shy about asking for support.
Natalie says the volunteers running the foodbanks will need a break over Christmas and most of the foodbanks will be closed for a period, they are encouraging people who might need to make use of their services over Christmas to come forward now
Natalie says the closure times will be slight different at each location
