We need to be making faster progress on the climate, that's the view of a senior East Riding councillor.
Labour's Steve Gallant welcomed a £100,000 investment on tackling flooding, but says more needs to be done:
"We have adopted a climate strategy, but the progress seems to be glacially slow compared to the size of the challenges. I do welcome the extra £100,000 announced by the leader in the budget, but I'm afraid that is just literally a drop in the ocean.
"We believe the council should be making faster progress on climate."
His comments come on the back of this announcement from East Riding Council leader Anne Handley:
"As we know here in the East Riding, we have flooding issues. That's why we have allocated an extra 100,000 pounds towards flooding prevention to deal with the ever-changing climate. This significant commitment will help us defend and safeguard our homes and ensure our neighbourhoods are better prepared to withstand the severe weather."
