Whitby Harbour will see a winter maintenance programme of Dredging.
Concerns had been raised over a build up of silt in the harbour despite North Yorkshire council owning it's own dredging vessel.
Whitby Councillor - Neil Swannick - says he's had numerous complaints from local vessel operators.
Assistant Director for Harbours at North Yorkshire Council, Paul Thompson, says the boat had been working elsewhere but is now back in to town for maintenance after which it will be working in the harbour.
Paul Thompson says the dredging vessel isn't in the town all the time but adds that Whitby does get priority over it's use.
